Media production is social collaboration which requires a division of labour and specialised skills in order to manufacture the right shots in getting the correct genre conventions and tone of your opening sequence.
The main five roles on set are:
- director ( responsible for organising and instructing the actors)
- camera operator ( in charge of filming the correct scenes and filming)
- editor ( edits the clips for the final cut)
- art director (sorting location,props,costume,makeup)
- producer(overseeing all aspects of the shoot, organising other members of production team and ensuring everything runs smoothly)
In our group of three for our final opening title sequence, tiggy is director, Freya is camera operator, i am the editor and the rest of the roles we are combing together so we all agree and is easy for all of us.
I a the editor because me and the group decided that they enjoyed and liked the way in which i edited the last practice shoot we did and easily can understand the way in which the editing workspace is.
Before the shoot i need to prepare and buy certain i teams that my group have decided that i need to get, we all need to gather together and make sure we have collected all our costumes, accessories and props.
We need to take our shot list with us as we would like to remember and not forget any key points.
My role is important because it is the final piece of the puzzle that we would need to do. Editing is very important because if the editing isn’t done well, it can ruin the concept and the rest of the clip because of timing.
