Walt disney:

Walt Disney was created in 1923 by the man himself "Walt Disney" in a small office which is ironic on how big the company has become. The studio was location in los Angeles and started off by producing small animations, where the rent was 10$. 

Disney headquarters are in California us. They are a conglomerate franchise and their other companies they own are also based in California for example:

- Walt Disney pictures

- Pixar

- Marvel studios 

- Lucas film 

Most studios are based around the whole world including: India, Tai-land, Netherlands, Japan , India , Germany , France , uk and America. 

Walt Disney is a huge brand that is not owned by just one person as its a publicly traded company. Investors and brands out a-lot of money into the brand Disney to gain profit and use the name of 'Disney'. The largest shareholder in the company Disney is Vanguard who owns 137 million shares.

Disney has been around for 97 years from the upbringing of "Walt Disney's" crazy idea in a small office space to now the second biggest worldwide brand. 

Disney holds some of the biggest and best movies of all time. The most succesful films that disney has made are:

                                        2. Capitan America civil war

                                                3. Capitan marvel

                                                4. the lion king

                                                   5. Star wars

You can identify a running theme throughout the top three films. The top three films are marvel and most popular ones follow after this. Disney have been intelligent in the way that they bring out loads and loads of films in to grip the audience and make sure that Marvel is always popular by always keeping up and releasing new marvel films a few a year.

Last year (2020) the corona virus played a big factor in the way that not many films were released, due to fact that marketing, exhibition, distribution and production are not going to be possible as nobody would be able to go to the cinema to be able to see the movies. Although two big disney company films did come out. The movie soul came out and cost £118,000,000 as-well as the film onward which came to be the price of £133,000,000. 

Disney has not just one producer but a few that make up the world of disney. Walt disney, Alex Hirsch , Jason Marsden , Brenden Song. 

Diseny has 13 movies from pre production status. This production of 2021 so far they have made 20 films in total just in one year due to their large conglomerate company.

According to wikidepdia and other sources altogether 59 Disney films have been made. Comparing how many have been made just this year show that Disney is at its peak time and are rehearsing their brand to make it even bigger.

The advantage of disney being a big instsitatuon, is because every film that is produced through them is going to be big in some sense. The brand disney is so big that any film that is going to come out is going to be good. Disney varies from action, sci fi, drama and animation films means that the company has a film for everyone. 

Belstone pictures:

Finn was a x Hurtwood student and had big love and passion for the film industry. Once he left Hurtwood he founded Belstone pictures with a desire to make films, after he worked on a "set" for few years.

Belstone pictures have a film studio based in Chelsea, London that they create all their small but good quality films from.

Belstone pictures is owned by Finn bruce and is the founder and lead producer of the studio. He owns no other companies as of yet, this my lead to a big failure in the future due to the low amount of income he may have. He owns one small business, if the films he produce fail, he looses a lot of money in the company and has no other money to bounce off due to owning one company and not being able to branch out and borrow money from other business that he has. 

Belstone pictures was set up in 2012 and the first film that got produced was Tank 432 (horror) that came out in 2015. Belstone pictures have come out with two films such as tank 432 and tucked. 

Tank 432 got money from winning the lottery and from the headmaster of Hurtwood who invested money into his business, the film did really well and Finn used the money to make the next film "tucked" which came out with the revenue of £100,000 which is major for such a small company. 

Belstone pictures have one film in post production, one film in pre production and 13 films in development. The films in development take a while due to money and getting funding off the other films they produce.

The advantage of a small company is flexibility, genuinely  lean staffing and the ability to create a close relationship with customers.

Film Genre:

 What is genre?

Genre is the way of categorising based off its conventions.

How and why is it used?

Genre is important to the audience and institutions for many reasons. Genre is important because it sets the rules and guides, it helps target the audience towards their favourite genre. Helps to identify what they look like and sets up expectations.

What is sub genre?

Sub genre is a genre with in a genre to interest a wide audience. (horror)

What is hybrid genre?

Hybrid genre is when the genre is two or more in a film. For example, action and comedy. The film contains two different genres that make up the film.

What are things associoated with genre?

Things associoated with genre include: 

category, class, group, grouping, list, listing, set.

Mise en scene Film Poster

How does the mise-en-scene and camera angle/composition within the poster communicate concepts and connotations to the audience? 

This poster is the famous film Rocky 1 by Trzy Oscary it’s the story where Rocky starts off as a small-time boxer from a working-class background and decides to take on a heavyweight competition. First impressions from this poster is the audience can tell this film is about boxing,from the gloves and bold font on the front. The audience can tell that this isn’t going to be a lighthearted or comedy. We can tell this is going to be a thrilling and fast-moving film about a boxer. We know this is going to stand out from the audience due to the bright colours of red that is striking and stands out from the rest of the picture. The bright red boxing gloves in a shape of a heart might hint to the audience that is more than just boxing. Boxing is presented as punching and hurting an individual so the fact that the gloves are shaped in are heart suggests that there is more than just damage and thrill in this film and that maybe he falls in love with the sport or falls in love with a woman. The boxing gloves are bright red, which might convey danger, blood and a strong, bold character that is engaged and ready to fight. Traditionally boxing gloves are red which tells the audience that this a popular and old film that started the beginning of the sport boxing.

The font is a bold statement that represents strong, striking and is vivid. You look at the poster and believe that Rocky is already scary due to the font. The font is made to look like metal or steal so gives off hard and unbreakable feel to the poster. This film is definitely stereotypical and is about a man due to the time the film came out (1977) when it was unheard of and looked down upon if woman would even think of enjoying the sport boxing or sport in general. The audience can also tell that this is definitely based around a man due to the bold font and colours. I believe that this film would interest the audience of younger boys and older men, due to the fact that this is a film about a boxer getting famous through his talents. I also believe that because this film is so fa

mous a lot of families and women watch it as well due to the fact that is so popular and known as one of the “best films known to man”. Generations through generations are told to watch these films as it inspires young boys to follow their sporting career even if you come from a poor background. In conclusion, from this poster the audience can tell that without ever seeing or knowing what the film is about can already tell that this is a masculine and stereotypical film to please men. The first glance at the poster you can understand and appreciate that this film is about boxing and with a twist of love. Without even watching the film you can work out the plot, genre and setting and that the character is a male because of the masculine colours and font on the front poster of the film. You can understand and learn a lot from the first glance of a poster.
